The April 2024 Cab Post
Catching my breath, little condiments, ten years of MCAF
Recap
Hello everyone! My apartment saga is over, for the better. I can catch my breath and regain some much needed mental space. Just in time for what promises to be a very busy month of May. Whew!
Almost 6 months after Le cinéma de l'horreur was released, I finally got the chance to sign with Denis Côté at the Salon du Livre de Québec. It was really fun switching age groups and I could get used to being around kids in book fairs. They’re so genuinely impressed by little doodles in their books! Thank you to the people who came to see me at Front Froid as well!
The L’heure du lunch layout phase is coming along well. It’s a fairly tedious step, between scripting, storyboarding and page layout, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. I also did a bunch of color rendering tests and decided to use the results to revamp my Patreon page. It’s a really simple style but it’s also surprisingly appetizing, I’ve been told. What’s the thing you’d like to eat the most?
Announcements
Yoho! Montreal Comic Art Festival is coming, from May 23 to 25, on Saint-Denis street. For the first time in years, I will have my own table and therefore, all my merch (in addition to books). I’ve also been tabling at the Festival for TEN YEARS now. Crazy, huh? I will try hard to have new items at my table, which will be located under the Front Froid/Nouvelle Adresse tent. We will be at E33, a little down from Mont-Royal avenue.
That’s all for the month of April! Spring is upon us, things are looking up. Until then, take care and I’ll see you all in June!
Print of the month
This month's print is Russian Doll, an impromptu fanart from the series of the same name. It’s a 100% traditional piece, done with Posca and ink in a small sketchbook. Each print is signed and shipping is free until June!

Cool stuff
I was impatiently awaiting the new album from Yard Act, a post-punk band with witty, caustic lyrics. The mark of Remy Kabaka Jr. (Gorillaz) on production is hard to ignore but the result is an album that feels closer to Beck and LCD Soundsystem than Gang of Four. My only beef is that they’re not on Bandcamp GRRRR! Where’s my Utopia?
Cool artist: Hayden Wills makes low-fi, animated graphic posters of popular movies and series.
A comic adaptation of the game Cult of the Lamb was announced by Oni Press. Now I haven’t finished the game (I never will) but I really like the visuals by Charles Dalmau. My goal now is to do an alternate cover!
That is a great print! Cant wait to see the lamb one!
